I've always said it takes a very special person to step in and take on the responsibility of being a parent to a child; especially one that was not your own flesh and blood. Ray was, and will always be, that special person in my eyes. He took on the role of a father from the moment he and my mother were married. I was thirteen years old at the time, and I did not like the idea of some one "pretending to be my dad". But as time passed, I realized he would be the only father figure in my life that deserved honor, respect and most of all; my love. He had very strict rules and following them weren't always easy, but it molded me into the woman I would later become. He taught me how to be strong, even when things get tough. How to have pride and integrity, and never settle for anything less than your best. He taught me to be honest and truthful and to speak up for myself and what I believed in. He had such a big and giving heart, and would lend a helping hand, whenever he could. He believed in working hard and earning a good living; not just having things handed to you on a silver platter. He taught me not to depend on anyone else; although I wished he would have had an easier time asking for help, when he really needed it, but I struggle with doing that too. Most of all he taught me how to love; unconditionally. I love him with all my heart. I will miss him terribly, but I'm so thankful for him in so many ways, and I will be forever grateful for him in being my Dad. xoxoxo muah! Love, Nee'
